Genius Friend in Dorset

DorsetCountyMuseumWe are delighted to announce that our first event of the year will take place at the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester on 21 January.

Edward Chaney will return to the county in which he first met Gerald Edwards through his great-aunt Josephine, who lived in Upwey. Gerald was living in the same village with the Snell family, where he completed his only novel, The Book of Ebenezer Le Page.

The literary connections with Dorset continued when the publishers asked local literary hero, John Fowles, to write an introduction to the novel when it was first published.

Edward Chaney will be giving an illustrated talk about the life and works of his friend Gerald Edwards at Dorset County Museum on 21 January at 7:30 pm (Doors open from 7 pm).
