The landscape and places of Guernsey are, to my mind, as much a part of ‘The Book of Ebenezer Le Page’ as the main characters. It was a real pleasure, therefore, to be able to visit some of the places featured in the book, thanks to your guide, as well as to see the house where G.B. Edwards spent his childhood … I may only be a Jerseyman (as Ebenezer himself would undoubtedly have pointed out), but in my opinion ‘The Book of Ebenezer Le Page’ is a masterpiece. ‘The Trail of Ebenezer Le Page’ is a brilliant publication which has added to my appreciation of the novel, as well as showing me some less well-known corners of Guernsey.
About the Author
Stephen Foote set up Blue Ormer Publishing in 2014 to publish Genius Friend, Edward Chaney’s biography of The Book of Ebenezer Le Page. He worked closely with Edward on the book, in particular, the research into G.B. Edwards’s family history in Guernsey and the parallels between his own life and events in the novel.
Stephen is also the editor of The Review of the Guernsey Society, and a regular contributor of articles on local and family history.
